This is week three of writing things down in the notebook, and I’m honestly not sure yet if it’s helping me figure anything out or if I’m just making myself more aware of every little bump on my hands, but here’s what happened this week anyway.
Monday and Tuesday were fine, nothing new on the hands, I worked from home both days so no commute, no typing marathon either, just the usual dishes and a loaf of sourdough I made Tuesday night.
Wednesday was the day everything piled up at work, I was at my desk typing for probably six hours straight trying to get a report out before a call, then the hour and a half home on top of it, and by that evening the skin on the back of both hands was red and cracked in a way it hadn’t been since two weeks ago, the itching started around 9pm and kept me up until almost midnight.
Thursday I switched to a fragrance-free body wash I bought three weeks ago (my building’s laundry room also switched detergent brands around the same time, so now I genuinely can’t tell which one, if either, is doing anything), and the patch on my neck looked slightly calmer by Friday morning, though that could just be four days without a bad work day too.
Friday and the weekend were quiet, no flare, hands mostly settled by Saturday.
So for the week: two bad days, both tied to long stretches at the keyboard and the commute on top of them, and one product change I still can’t credit or blame with any real confidence.
One thing I want to try next week is timing my typing breaks every 45 minutes instead of whenever I remember, just to see if that changes anything on the bad days.
Does this actually happen for you guys too, hands getting noticeably worse after hours of typing, or am I just connecting dots that aren’t really there.
