Tried running twice this week, Tuesday and Friday after work.
Standing all day already has my ankles pretty puffy by 6pm most days, so I wasn’t sure if running would make that worse or just move the swelling up earlier. Ended up about the same either way.
Tuesday I made it 12 minutes before my knees started complaining and I stopped instead of pushing through like I would have in my twenties. Friday was shorter, maybe 8, legs were already tired from a full shift before I even started.
Weekend hike was fine though, same trail I always do. Walking uphill for an hour doesn’t seem to bother my knees the way a flat sidewalk jog does, which I still don’t fully get.
Someone at work noticed I was limping a bit on Monday and asked about it. Didn’t feel like getting into the whole running thing with a coworker I don’t know that well, so I just said I slept wrong. Easier that way.
Next week I’m trying run-walk intervals instead of running straight through. Also going to actually elevate my legs after work instead of just collapsing on the couch and telling myself I’ll do it later.
