[Work] Trying no email after 6pm

Three hours in the car most days, an hour and a half each way, and somewhere in the last few months I started answering work emails from my own kitchen table at 9 or 10pm, for a job that genuinely does not require that. Noticed it because I hadn’t made bread in almost two months, which used to be my Saturday thing without fail.

So here’s the plan starting Monday: no work email after 6pm for 30 days straight, and Saturday morning stays baking time no matter what’s sitting in the inbox. Wrote both rules on the kitchen calendar so I’d actually have to look at them every day.

Three days in and I already broke the email one once, answered something at 7:40 because I got nervous about how the silence would look to my manager. Which tells me the real problem probably isn’t the 6pm cutoff, it’s the nervousness underneath it.

Has anyone actually held something like this for a full month? And if you slipped once, did you restart the count from day one or just keep going from where you left off?
