Freelance work has been eating my evenings for a while now, mostly because I keep saying yes to calls whenever a client asks, even if it’s already dark outside and I’ve got nothing left in me, so the plan this week was simple, no new calls after I close the laptop for dinner, just finish what’s already on my plate and let tomorrow be tomorrow.
Tuesday I held it, mostly because nobody asked. Wednesday a client wanted a quick call about a deck that’s due soon and I almost said sure, but caught myself and told them tomorrow morning instead, which felt weirdly hard for someone who’s supposedly the one setting the rule.
Today I went with my mom to her appointment in the afternoon, sat in that waiting room chair that’s never comfortable no matter which hospital you’re in, and afterward just didn’t open the laptop again once we got home, which I’m counting as a win even though technically nothing forced my hand.
Went for a short run before all that too, slow, nothing to brag about, but it happened.
Writing this down mostly so I remember I actually stuck to something this week, even loosely.
