[Rest] alarm every 45 minutes

Set an alarm on my phone again this morning, every 45 minutes, get up and stretch for a bit. Did this for about 3 weeks back in spring and then dropped it once my shift schedule flipped and I lost track of what time it even was most days.

On nights again this month, so most of my sitting happens after a shift when I’m winding down with a game for hours, probably not noticing my back’s basically folded over by the end of it (the recliner does not help). Chiropractor’s whole comment last time was “you sit too long,” which, fair enough.

What I’m doing this time:
– alarm every 45 minutes, no snoozing
– stand up, roll the shoulders back, walk to the kitchen and back
– pause the game if I’m mid-match, learned that one the hard way

Also been trying to read some nights instead of gaming, that’s a separate thing I’m working on, going okay so far.

Not expecting much this week, just want 7 days straight without switching the alarm off out of habit. Small goal, but it’s where I’m starting from again.

oof the recliner comment hit close to home, my back folds the same way after gaming too

same thing happened to me, mine lasted about 5 weeks before a shift change wiped it out and I completely lost track of the alarm. the recliner really doesn’t help at all

the no-snoozing rule is the part I’d fail hardest at, I always end up hitting it once and telling myself just a little longer, then losing the whole night to it. does the alarm actually get you out of the chair or do you just silence it and stay put?

the recliner thing is real, mine used to be the worst part of the whole cycle honestly. what got the alarm to actually work for me was putting the phone somewhere I had to stand up to reach it, otherwise I just silenced it from the couch
