Started this 2 weeks ago – after every night shift, before I let myself collapse into bed, I sit at the kitchen table for a bit and sketch. Nothing serious, just whatever’s in front of me, the fruit bowl, my own hand, the window (not gallery material, but it keeps my hands busy).
The shift schedule’s been rough lately, and tapering off the steroids hasn’t helped with sleep either, so mornings used to just dissolve into scrolling my phone until I passed out. Figured giving myself a small task first might help.
So far I’ve done it 6 out of 8 shifts. The two I skipped, I was just too wiped. But on the days I do it, I actually fall asleep faster, which I wasn’t expecting.
Keeping it at 2 weeks for now, then I’ll decide if it’s worth keeping up.
