[Learning] opened the insurance folder

finally opened that folder with all the insurance papers tonight. it’s been sitting on the shelf since like August lol.

my husband usually handles this stuff but he’s been slammed at work lately so I figured I’d at least look through it once. pulled out 3 different policies and didn’t understand half of what i was reading. deductible, rider, cash value, whatever that means.

sat there for maybe 20 minutes after my son went to bed (around 9pm), just highlighting the words i didn’t know so i could look them up later. didn’t actually look anything up yet, the highlighting felt like enough progress for one night.

both cats were asleep on the couch the whole time, didn’t bother me once, which never happens when i’m trying to focus on something.

not trying to become an expert overnight. just want to actually understand what we’re paying for instead of nodding along when the agent calls. one folder, one night, that’s as far as i got…

the cash value thing confused me too when I finally looked at my own policy a few months back, I just wrote down the words I didn’t get and left it at that for the night. honestly 4 months into trying to get into shape and still feeling like I haven’t properly started anything, I’ve learned that highlighting counts as moving the needle even if it doesn’t feel like it.
