Life Time ›Growth Plan

[Making] dusted off the knitting bag

Picked my knitting bag back up after it sat untouched for a while. The plan was modest, just pick up the needles most evenings instead of reaching for my phone while waiting to hear back from job applications. No deadline, no finished project in mind, just wanted my hands busy for a bit each night. The early evenings felt awkward, I kept dropping stitches and had to redo whole rows, but by teh end of the week my hands remembered the rhythm on their own. Some nights I only managed a little before giving up and going to bed early, and that was fine too. The scarf is still far from finished and might stay that way for a long while, but the evenings felt quieter either way, less scrolling, less checking email for no reason. My budget notebook is back on the table too, though that is its own thing for another post. Quiet hands, quieter head, that is the whole plan really.

The part where your hands just remembered the rhythm on their own really got me – how many weeks in were you before that happened? I’m about 2 months into mixing short runs with walking myself, and it took nearly that long before it stopped feeling like starting from zero every evening!
