Watched a video the other night about revenge bedtime procrastination, the term for staying up way too late doing nothing productive just because it’s the only time that feels like yours, and one line stuck with me hard — you’re not tired, you’re just refusing to let the day end on someone else’s terms. That is basically my whole week between grad school reading and the part-time shifts, where the only quiet stretch I get is after everyone’s asleep, so of course I keep pushing bedtime later even though I know it makes everything worse the next day, skin included. First thing the video suggested was stealing that “mine” time earlier in the evening instead of cutting it out completely, even a little bit right after dinner counts the same without wrecking the whole next day. Second was putting the phone somewhere across the room so checking “just the time” doesn’t turn into scrolling forever (guilty!). I tried moving my quiet time earlier for a stretch now, still catch myself kneading bread dough way past when I should be asleep because it’s weirdly calming, but the mornings after do feel less brutal. Writing it down here so I actually remember it exists next time I’m wide awake at some ridiculous hour.
