[Video] turns out it was the wrist rest

work from home so my hands are on a mouse all day, then I go straight into gaming at night, so they never really get a break.

kept getting this dry cracked spot right under my left wrist, tried changing detergent, moved the desk, nothing lined up until I stumbled on some ergonomics video for gamers with wrist issues.

guy in it was talking about gel wrist rests warming up under your skin for hours and how the cheap ones can basically irritate sensitive skin over time. that’s exactly my setup — same rest, same spot, every single day.

swapped it for a fabric one about 3 weeks ago. left wrist calmed down first, right side’s still catching up, guessing because I favor my left hand on the mouse.

was packing up my desk stuff for the move and found two more of the same gel rests in a drawer, apparently I kept buying the same thing without connecting the dots.

not saying it’s the answer for everyone, but if you’re WFH and gaming and there’s a weird patch in that one exact spot, might be worth checking what your rest is actually made of before blaming lotion or weather again.
