Coworkers asking about my hands

3 weeks into tapering and still rotating day and night shifts, my hands look worse under the break room lights than at home. A guy asked right in front of everyone last night if I was contagious! I laughed it off, but it stung a little. Might just be me, but how do you keep coworkers from getting too curious without seeming cold?
