Shaky legs and hospital afternoons

Got back from a hike with an old friend yesterday.

Legs were shaking the whole way down the trail.

Going up is always fine, I even feel kind of proud of myself the whole climb! But coming down is where it falls apart every time. My knees ache for the rest of the day after.

I used to walk for miles every day back when I still had a job, so this still catches me off guard.

Between the hikes and driving my mom to appointments, I’ve spent so many afternoons lately just sitting in stiff waiting room chairs, watching the clock, not doing anything with my body at all.

I retired thinking I’d finally have time to take care of myself, maybe get some kind of strength routine going.

Still have no idea where to even start.

Some days it just feels like all that free time got swallowed up by hospital corridors and shaky legs instead.
