My skin was so itchy again last night around 11pm that I ended up sitting on the edge of the bed just scratching at my forearms for a while, and I know I’m not supposed to do that, but by the time I get home from the commute, which is 90 minutes each way, there’s just nothing left in me to do it properly.

I started walking and jogging on the trail near the house a few weeks ago, mixing short runs with walking, thinking it might help with the stress and the sleep too. Instead the sweat sits on my skin and the waistband on my leggings rubs right where I already have a patch on my hip, and by the time I shower it’s gone red and a bit raised. I suppose that’s just how it goes when you start something new at this age, my body doesn’t forgive things the way it used to.
Then there’s the moisturizer step I keep meaning to build into the evening, and some nights I just don’t get to it because I’m making dinner at 9pm and falling asleep on the sofa before I even touch my arms. I know a routine would help, but between the commute and the running there’s no real time left, and I’m not even tracking what sets me off anymore, I just react to it after the fact.
On top of that I’ve been going back and forth about breaking one of my savings accounts early, there’s a penalty if I do it before it matures and I’d lose the interest built up, but honestly I don’t have the energy left to sit down and work that out too. It just feels like everything is asking something of me at the same time, and there isn’t much left over for my own skin, or for me really. I suppose I just needed to say that somewhere.
