Review meeting ran long today

Had a review meeting at work today that was supposed to be 15 minutes and ran closer to 40. My manager kept circling back to the same point about q3 numbers like we hadn’t already covered it twice in the email thread beforehand. I noticed my jaw tightening about 10 minutes in, and by the time I left the room my teeth were basically locked together.

Got back to my desk and just sat there for a minute before I could even open my laptop again. The headache that usually creeps in around 2 or 3 in the afternoon showed up right after the meeting instead, way earlier than normal.

Then it was a full shift on my feet after that, so by the time I got home my ankles were swollen worse than usual. Normally it’s manageable if I prop my legs up for 20 minutes or so. Tonight I did that for over an hour and they still looked puffy when I finally got up.

I’ve been writing things down before bed for 13 nights straight now, and it’s actually helped more than I expected. But tonight I sat there with the notebook open and just couldn’t write anything. Nothing came out. I closed it after a few minutes and laid there instead, running that same meeting over in my head on a loop, word for word.

Didn’t touch the piano either. Haven’t in a few days now, if I’m honest.

Not really looking for advice on any of this. Just wanted to put it somewhere other than my own head for once.

ugh the jaw clenching thing is so relatable! does the ankle swelling happen on every shift or mostly the long ones – mine usually shows up after 8 hours on my feet

mine’s more tied to how long I’ve been on my feet than the shift itself, not every single one. a short day barely does anything but a full one has them looking puffy by the time I finally sit down.

Forty minutes over something already covered twice in email would wreck my whole afternoon too. My scalp does something similar, it’ll flare up right when the stress hits instead of waiting for its usual trigger.

That jaw clenching in meetings is so real, I get the same tightness by my 3rd call of the day and don’t notice until I finally stand up at my desk
