graveyard shift, restless skin

Just got off another night shift and I’m sitting in my kitchen at an hour that isn’t really morning or night anymore, and my hands keep drifting toward my arms even though I know better by now.

I’ve only just started tapering off the steroid cream, so of course this is the part where everything decides to remind me it’s still there, the itch waking up right when I finally sit down to rest.

In the break room last week I caught myself pulling my sleeve down without even thinking about it, before anyone said anything, just this reflex I’ve got now around people at work, might just be me being extra careful this early on, but I feel like I need a little distance until my skin sorts itself out.

Instead of sleeping after my shift I got out my sketchbook and just doodled for a while, nothing good, just lines, but it keeps my hands busy without doing any damage.

Shift work already has my whole rhythm turned around, and this on top of it makes for a lot some weeks.
