Had a night where a coworker just straight up asked what was going on with my face, right in the break room, in front of everyone, and I froze for a moment before I mumbled something about a rash and left it at that.
I’m still pretty new to weaning off the steroid cream, so my skin’s doing its own thing right now, worse at night for some reason, and graveyard shifts don’t help since my whole schedule’s a mess, I can’t remember the last time I slept through a normal night!
Usually I keep my head down and doodle through breaks instead of chatting, which works most nights, but this time someone actually asked and I panicked and gave a vague answer that probably made it weirder than just staying quiet would’ve.
Not sure if I should just be upfront about it going forward or keep deflecting, might just be me overthinking a night shift moment, but how do you all handle it when someone at work asks straight out? Do you explain or just brush past it?
