Had a final round interview last week and they said they’d follow up by the end of the week. That week came and went and there’s been nothing, not even the usual “we went with someone else” email (or honestly anything at all), just quiet.
I keep opening my inbox out of habit even though I already know there’s nothing there, which feels like such a waste of energy.
Tried to distract myself with knitting last night but kept losing my place and had to pull out half the row anyway, so that didn’t really help either.
Ended up opening my budget spreadsheet instead and just sat there staring at it, like it would rearrange itself if I looked at it long enough.
I get that this kind of silence happens all the time in hiring right now and it’s probably not personal, but it still stings, especially after a round that felt like it actually went well.
Needed to put that somewhere.
