Didn’t get home until 9pm last night. Long day, same as always with the commute (an hour and a half each way, so nothing new). Went out back before dinner just to check on the garden real quick, and that’s when I saw it.
Holes. All over the tomato leaves. Some are tiny nibbles. A few go clean through. Nothing on the plant that I could find, no bugs, no eggs, nothing hiding under the leaves either.
This is my ‘first’ year growing anything. Started the bed back in June. Someone mentioned that working with soil helps quiet the mind, and honestly it has, mostly. Pulling weeds is strangely calming. Standing there with a flashlight at 9pm worrying about leaves kind of undoes that, though.
Also have two friends’ weddings back to back, this weekend and the next one. Already tired just thinking about the driving and getting dressed up on top of everything else. Not related to the tomatoes. Just tired in general these days, I guess.
Anyway. The holes don’t look like slug damage from what I read online, more ‘ragged’ and scattered than that. Wondering if anyone here has grown tomatos before and run into something like this. Did you pick whatever it was off by hand, or put something down in the soil first. And does this usually ruin the whole plant, or will the tomatoes still come in okay?
