still haven’t opened the mail

There’s a stack of mail I haven’t opened since before the move got real.

Not even scary stuff, I think. Probably a renewal notice, maybe a late fee reminder, who knows at this point.

Cat hiding inside a basket

I keep telling myself I’ll sort it after I pack the kitchen boxes. Then the kitchen gets packed and the stack just moves to a new pile on the counter.

My cats have started sitting on top of it like it’s a heated blanket, so now I can’t even grab it without disturbing a nap.

I used to be the person who opened everything the day it came. Somewhere in the last stretch that changed and I didn’t notice until the pile got tall enough to notice.

Work’s slow again this week so there’s no excuse of being too busy, it’s just that my hand stalls out whenever I pick it up.

Does anyone else do this with mail specifically, even when you know it’s probably nothing urgent? And if so, what actually got you to open the pile?

My cat sat on my stack of unopened mail for 2 weeks, guarding it like treasure!

I did the exact same thing during a family health scare, let bills sit for 3 weeks. Nothing exploded, but you’ll feel so much lighter once it’s open!
