running on no sleep, bad idea?

Mom’s appointment got moved to 7am, so I was up at 5:30 with my running shoes already on, telling myself I’d get a run in after dropping her off. Never happened.

By 2pm I was eating a granola bar in the car instead of lunch, shoes still untouched on the seat.

This is the 4th time this month a morning like that has wrecked the whole day. I keep wondering if I should just plan to skip the run on appointment days instead of carrying the guilt till bedtime.

Anyone else running on basically no sleep, does it actually feel good once you’re out there, or does your body just make you pay for it later? 🙂

i tried it once on about 3 hours sleep and the bill came due fast. does it feel okay once you’re moving, or do you know within the first mile it’s a mistake?

you know almost right away it’s a mistake

The granola bar in the car instead of lunch part hit close. My work weeks go the same way, once the first thing gets pushed back everything else slides with it, and by the time I remember eating it’s usually something grabbed one-handed while still moving.

did it on 5 hours sleep, crashed by noon

I disagree that skipping it is giving up. I started treating appointment mornings as rest days instead of makeup days, and my afternoons got way better after just 3 weeks of doing that!
