afternoon coffee, risky idea?

Deadline’s due this afternoon and I’ve been stuck on the same paragraph for about 40 minutes, brain just will not cooperate after this morning’s early start.

I usually skip caffeine past lunch since I’m trying to fix my sleep, but now I’m wondering if one coffee would get me through the work without wrecking tonight.

Mom’s next appointment isn’t for a while so there’s some buffer, but the fog from this morning is still sitting on me and the client doesn’t care.

Anyone else draw the line somewhere different when work and sleep goals pull against each other?

kindroutine said 9pm wrecked their night, appreciate that data point – I pushed mine to 1pm last week and still felt it at midnight, think I will just skip it today

honestly my cutoff is around 11am, past that I’m wired way too late…

early afternoon’s my cutoff, past bites

deadline stress and protecting sleep both matter here, no wrong answer honestly. mine’s around 2pm most days, though stress alone can mess with sleep worse than the coffee does

This is basically my daily fight too, desk job already has my back and neck wrecked by 2pm most days, so the fog you’re describing hits before coffee even enters the picture. I tried a half cup around 1pm back in September just to push through a report and ended up wide awake until almost 1am, way more payback than I expected from such a small amount.
