does the porch coffee thing still help now?

Quick follow-up to the porch coffee post – that slow stretch with my coffee before applications stuck, I’ve kept doing it most mornings since. Also used the caregiving line a few of you suggested on my cover letter, and I actually got asked in for an interview!

Scalp’s flaring up near the hairline again though, feels more tied to nerves than anything else this time, and now I’m second-guessing the whole routine. Sitting there with coffee instead of running through talking points feels like it could be the wrong call right before something like this.

Do you still do your calm morning thing on interview day, or skip it and use that time to prep instead?

I’d stick with the coffee routine, skipping it right when you need calm the most seems backwards to me! I had a 9am interview last month and sat with my coffee for 10 minutes instead of rereading notes, and I didn’t freeze up once answering.

what time’s the interview, still around 9am?

yeah, still early morning, same as last time I think…

I had an 8am interview last week and almost skipped the coffee thing for the same reason, the flare along my hairline made sitting there doing nothing feel pointless. What worked for me was keeping it but cutting it down, maybe 3 minutes instead of the full ten, then using the leftover time to skim my notes once instead of running through them over and over.

The nerves piece tracks for me more than the scalp care steps themselves. On weeks where everything gets thrown off, meals pushed late, sleep short, flares show up pretty quickly even when I haven’t changed a single product.

I kept mine but cut it to about 4 minutes before a video interview last month, just enough to stop staring at my notes for a second. The flare near my hairline settled down faster once the interview actually ended than it ever did from anything I changed about the coffee time.

Following this one because I’ve been in that same spot, wondering if the calm routine is working against me right when it matters most. For me the flare’s never really been about the coffee itself, it’s whatever’s going on underneath that shows up on my scalp first, so skipping it to cram through talking points instead would probably just leave me anxious without even those few quiet minutes to

Does it hit worse before video calls specifically, or any time nerves spike? I’m 3 months into back-to-back video meetings most days and never considered the stillness angle until now

any time for me, flared 3 times this week
