can’t sit still with 9 days left

9 days until the move, work’s dead quiet too, so there’s nothing to drown out the moving thoughts.

Usually the gratitude journal shuts my brain off before bed.

Tonight it didn’t. Still pacing at 11pm… both cats trailing after me, which never happens!

Anyone have a backup for when writing it down alone doesn’t work?

when the journal stops working for me I just get up and walk the block for 10 minutes instead

the cats trailing after you is such a tell, mine does the exact same thing whenever I’m wound up and can’t settle… on nights the journal doesn’t cut it I’ve had better luck switching to something physical and boring, like reorganizing a closet instead of just lying there thinking.

what’s actually keeping you up, the move itself or everything after it

the writing-it-down trick works for me too until it doesn’t, and those are always the nights the thoughts have no real reason to be loud, they just are. during a stretch where school and my shifts overlapped a lot more than usual I had the exact same thing happen, notebook open, nothing coming out except the same worries on repeat.

work going quiet probably isn’t helping either, nothing left to drown out the thinking once the to-do list clears out. I get this way before anything big too, sitting at a desk all day already has my body wound up so by night there’s nowhere for it to go.

on nights like that I just reorganize one drawer for 4 minutes, beats the notebook
