[Did] ditching my maybe pile finally got packing moving

Packing for this move has dragged on for weeks because I kept dumping things into a maybe pile instead of deciding, so I set myself a single rule — if I haven’t touched it since moving into this place, it goes, no maybe pile.

Shift work makes it worse since my days off land at random times and I never get a full day to sort closets, so I switched to short bursts instead — set a timer, clear a drawer or shelf, stop when it goes off, even if the room barely looks different after.

Short bursts ended up working way better than the big weekend cleanout I kept planning and bailing on. A whole day felt too big to start, so I avoided it, but a drawer feels doable even running on almost no sleep.

The other change was taking donation bags out the same day instead of leaving them by the door “for later.” Anything that sits there for later somehow ends up back in the closet.

Still have rooms to go, but for the first time this actually feels like packing instead of just pushing boxes from room to room…

Thanks for this, trying a 10 min timer on one drawer tonight instead of planning a whole day 🙂

i’ve been doing this with my resume lately, set a timer for 15 minutes and edit one section, somehow that’s easier to start than a whole afternoon
