[Tried] A small hourly reset for my neck and shoulders

By 6pm my neck and shoulders are basically locked up from sitting at my desk all day. I work from home, so there’s nothing forcing me to get up unless I build it in myself.

I didn’t have the strength or motivation to start an actual workout, so I kept it small on purpose:

– every 50 minutes my phone buzzes and I stand up for a neck roll + shoulder shrug, maybe 2 minutes total
– after dinner, a walk around the block instead of sitting straight back down at my desk
– if I need a screen break mid-afternoon, I pick up my knitting instead of scrolling, just a few rows

It’s been about 3 weeks now. My shoulders still get tight by mid-afternoon, but they’re not fully locked up by the time I’m cooking dinner anymore, which used to be the worst part of my day. Nothing dramatic, just less bracing my shoulders up near my ears without noticing…

A dog rests on the ground beside a fence, lying with its head on its paws and looking down.

Small stuff, but it’s the first routine that’s actually stuck for me.
