[Did] Using appointment waits for thumbnail sketches

3 night shifts in a row last week, and by the time I got off I was too fogged out to even look at my sketchbook, so I gave up on evening drawing for now and moved it to my dad’s cardiology appointments instead. He’s had 4 of these in the past 2 weeks, and the waiting room chairs are not great, but the wait itself is usually 20-30 minutes, which turned out to be just enough for 3-4 thumbnail sketches if I don’t overthink the composition.

I bring a small notebook, nothing fancy, and just rough out panel ideas for the booklet I keep saying I’m going to start (mostly shapes, arrows, and where the text might go, nothing that would make sense to anyone but me). Yesterday I got 5 thumbnails done before they called his name, which is more than I managed in a full week of trying to sit down at my desk after a shift!

It’s not glamorous, and I still haven’t picked which idea to actually finish… but at least the page is filling up instead of staying blank. I’ll take it for now.
