I’ve been putting off real strength work because full workouts always felt like too big a jump from where my legs actually are, so I started doing sit to stand reps on the kitchen chair while the coffee maker runs.
No plan, no counting sets, just however many my legs can manage before it beeps. Some mornings that barely counts as effort, other mornings my legs are shaking by the final rep.
What surprised me is how much steadier the porch steps feel after keeping this up for a while. I honestly wasn’t expecting a kitchen chair to matter that much.
A few things I picked up along the way:
– hand on the chair back instead of gripping the seat makes balance way easier
– going slow on the way down matters more than rushing up
– doing it before coffee instead of after means it actually happens, since once I’m sitting with a cup I’m not moving again
Grocery bags still feel about the same, but the wobble getting out of the car afterward is gone, and that’s the part I didn’t know needed fixing.
