[Did] Humidifier on a timer instead of all night

First week running the central heat overnight in the new place and I’m not loving what it’s doing to my skin. Woke up around 3am two nights in a row with my cheeks and neck feeling tight, even though nothing’s actually flaring…

Tried putting the humidifier on a timer to shut off at 2am instead of running it straight through, figured it might be overcorrecting once the tank ran low partway through the night. Checked the little hygrometer on the dresser after and it read 38% around 6am on the timer nights, versus 30% the two nights before with no timer at all.

Still waking up a bit dry most mornings, just not as bad. Kid’s room is right next to mine so anything loud is out. Is there an actual humidity number people aim for overnight in a bedroom, or does forced air just dry things out no matter what you do?

Reading about the tightness hitting your cheeks and neck right in the middle of the night really resonates because that’s exactly how dryness shows up for me too, not as a flare but just this tugging feeling that makes it hard to fall back asleep.

My scalp gets tight around 2am, same for you?

Not my scalp, but my jawline gets the same tight pull around 3am! I put my humidifier on a 1am shutoff too and it’s helped some, just not all the way.

Mine’s around 34% usually, might try a timer
