[Did] Phone in another room during applications

Been putting my phone in the bedroom while I sit down to fill out applications. Started after noticing I’d open a tab to apply, check my phone between every field, then lose the thread of what I was even answering.

What actually helped:
– phone in another room, not just flipped over on the desk
– browser open to just the job posting, no other tabs
– draft the short-answer stuff in a plain document first, paste it in after
– close the laptop the second it’s submitted, no scrolling through more listings right after

The difference isn’t that I’m faster. It’s that I’m not reopening the same form again and again because I drifted off and forgot where I left things. The applications take the same effort, they just don’t eat the whole afternoon anymore.

Doesn’t fix the waiting part. Still checking email more than I’d like to admit. But the filling-out part isn’t dragging the way it was.

The closing the laptop part got me, I used to keep scrolling after submitting and somehow stayed stuck there till 11pm!

I do this at 9am too, how many apps deep?

3, usually. After that I start re-reading the same posting twice without noticing.

Drafting the short answers outside the form first is the one I skip and regret. How long had you been stuck in that check-every-field loop before you noticed the pattern?
