[Did] Propping the laptop on books fixed how my neck sits al

My neck locked up again after another stretch of days hunched over the laptop at the kitchen table, so I finally fixed the actual setup instead of just stretching after the damage was done.

Stacked a few old cookbooks under the laptop until the top of the screen lined up with my eyes instead of somewhere down near my chest. Felt ridiculous at first, books sliding everywhere, but I taped the stack together and it stopped moving…

What changed —
– stopped tilting my chin down to look at the screen
– shoulders stopped creeping up toward my ears by afternoon
– the usual ache along my shoulder blade showed up a lot later in the day instead of right after lunch

Still using a separate keyboard pushed back so my wrists aren’t climbing to reach it! Took more fiddling to get that angle right than the books did, honestly.

Not saying it fixed everything, the chair’s still not great, but this one change did more for the neck than any stretch I’ve tried. Should’ve done it ages ago.

How many books did it take to get the screen that high? Mine’s still too low after 2 weeks!

3 books, about 4 inches total, just kept stacking one at a time till the top lined up with my eyes!
