Started doing this only on shift days, not every night. Pack the lunch and set out tomorrow’s clothes right after dinner instead of waiting until morning.
Takes about 10 minutes the night before. A sandwich, some carrot sticks, a thermos of coffee, nothing fancy, nothing that needs real prep. Used to do all of that at 7am while also hunting for my shoes and trying to remember which shift I had, which only added stress to a morning that was already tight.
3 weeks in now. Mornings before a shift feel less like a scramble, and I get to the store without feeling like I already lost the morning before it started. Still staying up later than I should some nights because of the class reading, but at least I’m not also digging around for a lunch bag on top of that.
Not sure this helps anyone else. My days are just packed enough that even small bits of friction matter more than they used to.
